Timber frame houses
Timber Frame is one of the most widely used structural construction methods in the world, offering a fast, flexible, durable, highly-insulated and environmentally responsible building solution.
Already the standard in North America where it accounts for 90% all low-rise housing, timber frame is also the most popular form of home construction in Scandinavia due to its suitability for harsh climates where homes need to be built fast, be very energy efficient yet remain comfortable throughout the seasons.
Modern timber frame construction has many advantages
Completely Flexible
- – Completely customisable design
- – Strong exterior shell means greater flexibility for interior walls
- – Strong frame means greater use of windows
- – Can be cladded in virtually any external material
Environmentally Friendly
- – Timber is renewable and sourced from European softwood forests that are sustainably managed
- – Entire construction usually represents at least 50% less carbon footprint compared with other traditional methods
- – Significantly higher rate of energy efficiency due to the additional insulation of rockwall and celotex used in the build
Highly Efficient
- – Rapid speed of construction
- – Can be erected and made watertight in a matter of weeks so weather does not impact construction
- – Often able to start interior decorating as external works (brickwork and roofing) are being completed
- – Less debris leads to a cleaner construction site
- – Superior sound insulation, especially between party walls
- – Air tightness value will be considerably lower and therefore better due to the easy insulation of the internal vapour barrier, which is fitted throughout
- – Entire building is wrapped in a reflected foil that considerably improves the U values and overall energy efficiency of the build
Adhering to industry best practice is at the core of everything we do and we are always striving to learn and improve the way we work.
